It’s that time of year again - spring is around the corner and suddenly we’ve forgotten the well-intentioned promises we made to ourselves at the start of 2017.
Most of us are familiar with setting goals. Professionally we learn how to address a challenge head on and use all of the resources available to overcome our obstacles. We are not distracted by circumstances. We are not threatened by a challenge. Yet research shows that most of us abandon our personal resolutions by February. According to Statistics Brain data, nearly half of all Americans make New Year’s resolutions, but just 9% of us regularly follow through in accomplishing them.
Fourlaps believes in sticking to your goals. We began with a vision of great-fitting, expertly-made athletic apparel. We reached high when setting our goal because we saw an important and untapped opportunity for our community. Through our experience, we’ve learned that no goal can be accomplished with sheer willpower. Success needs skilled planning, tested strategy and enormous patience.
Whether big or small, make sure to keep your goals specific. Write it out and repeat it to yourself in the morning. Memorize it. The better you understand what you want, the easier it will be to achieve.
Keep yourself accountable. Reflection is an essential tool to making effective and noticeable change. Measuring each achievement, large and small, will be the biggest motivator for your success.
...and stick to it. The easiest way to fall behind is to not factor it into your schedule. Make your goal a priority. Schedule time for it in your calendar. You’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to follow through.
Share your goals and your success with friends and family. Having a close community of support is invaluable to your growth.
Setbacks are inevitable. But we often learn more from our struggles than our triumphs. Don’t give up, don’t get discouraged. Every step you take is a step closer to your goal.
